Rescued Kitten – Maybe 7-8 weeks, seems sick, had weird bugs, very fat, sleeps a lot…?

I was looking to take in a new young cat, and went to see this little orange tabby I found listed. When I arrived, the living situation worried me, so I adopted the kitten to save him from poor conditions. He is maybe 7 weeks old, very small, and he was orphaned VERY young (5-6 weeks ago) when his mother was killed by a car.

He is small, has a fat belly, has very short whiskers, and the woman said he had lost the hair around his eyes and that it had to grow back, so it is very short. His eyes are a bit big for his face, but I figure that is due to his lack of longer hair around the eyes. He sleeps a lot, and meows alot, but seems relatively active when he is awake. When I got him home, I had to bathe him in very warm water for a good 10 minutes, getting odd bugs off of him – he was infested with them. Black heads and brown oval backs, seemed to latch onto his skin like a tick, but didn’t look like ticks. I was very thorough (poor Remi didn’t like it) and got every bug and small black mass off his skin and fur all over his body, including his face, neck, and ears. I immediately wrapped him in a warm soft towel after his bath and cuddled him until he was dry. I then let him sleep in the carrier with a soft dry towel for a good hour and a half when he woke up.

The woman says she dewormed him twice, which seems odd, and insists he has had his first shots. She said she bottlefed the litter until they started eating dry food properly, and had litter trained them. Then she advised me that one of the kittens had just inexplicably died a week ago.

Remi seems better 24 hours later, more actively exploring the house, climbing up to my face to cuddle, nuzzle, and sleep curled up on my chest while I sit at the computer, and his playful personality is starting to show. He now follows me throughout the house, has started to clean himself a little, and has even picked a spot to hide and sleep while he is free to roam. I decided to put him in the large carrier overnight with a soft towel to sleep on because there is a larger cat in the house (declawed) that does not know what to think of little Remi yet.

I am worried about the potential problems with little spunky Remi, and will have him seen by a vet soon, but was hoping to find some opinions about his situation and health in the meantime… We got him Purina kitten food, a low-sided litter box to accomodate his small size (which he is using well), and used a cat/kitten flea and tick shampoo only because of his infestation. The lil bug-eyed orange tabby needed rescued, and I couldn’t just walk away…

Well done for rescuing this little one and it sounds as though you are doing everything right.
The lady is obviously lying as it sounds as though he has worms. He is also too young for his shots , so I would even be surprised if his mother was dead. I think she was sick of looking after them and didn’t want the trouble or expense.

Take the kitten to a vet for a good check up and don’t mix with your existing cat until you get the all clear.

So, I know a lot of people who lost weight and if you ask them how they lost it, they’ll say “I started running.”

So, if you run about a mile a day or so, and have healthy eating habits, what kind of results can be expected?

How Do I Loose Fat In My Thighs and Stomach!?!

okay I have a really heavy stomach and what my mother likes to call Thunder thighs. I hate them! I am currently on a detox with cranberry juice, water, green tea and broccoli. I am doing this to myself because if I have nasty left over sugar deposit inside me I crave it so much. I know I can do this as before I was married I was a vegetarian and was a healthy weight. But now being married with all the stress and dealings of daily house keeping I have been eating sweets non stop and its making me hate what I see in the mirror, Also my hubby would like me to loose weight to be healthy as so would I. So what is a good thing to do to loose the weight in my thighs and tummy? I currently walk my dog an hr a day and then I go down to the local track and walk around that about 2hrs and then walk home which is 30 min away also walk to the track so really I am doing 4hrs a day of exercising. So how do I get those areas toned and loosing weight more than other areas on my body? because I just hate my thighs and tummy. THANKS!!
I only do the detox for a week. its just to get my body clean from all the nasty stuff. believe me my eating habit has changed too. I eat alot less. I do have trouble with breakfast and that I know can be bad but I am working on that too. I would do weight watchers but I am a shy person and cover myself in many layers of close because I have been called horrible names and such, life is cruel but then what can you do! lol

I love going on detox too. I lose weight each time and my energy is great after! The sweets is mostly what has contributed to the visceral fat in your belly. You have a pocket that stores fat under the layer of skin, fat, and muscle on your belly. The fat stored there is mostly from too much glucose or sugar in your body. The easiest way to get it off is to strictly stay away from any refined carbohydrates and sweets. I love Splenda. Even brown sugar is better than white sugar if you can’t stay away from it. Lol Walking is also a very good exercise to aid in losing belly fat. As for the thighs, well, it’s a woman thing. You’ll lose the fat off your thighs probably at the very end of your weight loss progress. I have lost 30 lbs and only 2 inches off of each thigh!! My stomach has shrunk to losing 3 inches too! But I have a hard time staying away from sweets too. When you gain muscle, it aids in fat loss, make sure you strength train too. I love to do the leg press at the gym, which is a lying down version of lunges.

Forgot about this: Splenda is chemical derived from Onion sugar and chlorine. When combined, it makes a sweetener that is safe for human consumption. But, it is still a chemical, and like other sugar alcohols like Sweet N Low and Equal, it adds chemicals to your body. Since you seem to be concerned about that sort of thing, you are probably best sticking with brown sugar, molasses, and honey if you do have any sweets.
