Your Questions About Gym Motivation Music

Donna asks…

Is it possible to lose 10lbs in 2 weeks?

If so how? and if you have any tips on how to keep me motivated please do tell I am DESPERATE

Ramesh Klinkert answers:

When you are losing weight, you should exercise and diet together.
If you exercise without dieting, you will get bigger appetite, which
will lead to increase of weight, or muscle grow
underneath the fat layer, and make you bulkier. If you diet without
exercising, you will become flabby and will have excess skin. For
diet, go wheat free. No pasta, pizza, bread and so on. And no food
after 7 p.m. People achieve marvellous results with it. Depending on
your initial weight, you can drop upwards from 20 pounds a month. If
you don’t eat wheat then you don’t eat all those sticky, fatty goey
cakes, you don’t eat junk food, and you don’t eat biscuits. But your
diet is still balanced. It costs nothing, and you do not have to
calculate points or to buy special meals or plans. For exercising,
start with walking, and then switch to running/jogging. Running is the
most efficient and calorie-burn exercise ever. If you are overweight a
lot, walk first or you may have health complications (heart attack,
disjointed bones and so on). Weight lifting is a good means to target
your problem areas for men and women. It’s not necessarily to become a
bodybuilder or even join a gym – a couple of dumbbells will help you
to target your problem areas (stomach, butt, legs, arms, chest).

How to motivate yourself to exercise.

1. Do it with a friend.
Statistics tell us that people who exercise with a friend are more
successful at exercising consistently. You can keep each other
accountable. Knowing that someone is waiting for you to exercise with
them can be great motivation to show up and get it done!
2. Do exercising which you enjoy. For example, you find running
boring. You can replace it with any other cardio activity: roller
blading, playing badminton, tennis, bicycling burn a lot of
calories, and you feel more like you are having fun, than like you are
punishing yourself for that extra doughnut.
3. Choose music you like, dynamic and vigourous, to make it more
pleasant.
4. Check regularly with your clothes, see how they become bulkier,
whoop from joy, photograph the progress and create a photo gallery on
your computer.
5. Set fitness goals, independent on weight loss. For example, say to
yourself “Next time, I will run quicker, and it will take me only ten
minutes to do so”, or such. You will feel like a real athlete,
preparing for a big day. Keep a journal of your athletic achievements.
6. Compete. Enrol into a local amateur tennis competition, for
example. This way, you will have a goal to achieve, which is different
from your weight loss, and you will have people to impress and you
will have to be adequate, so you’ll try harder.
7. Reward yourself (but not with food, you will end eating more than
you burned, and will become disillusioned quickly). Invent a set of
rules for yourself, for example: every time I am not feeling like
exercising, but do it, I will put 1 dollar in my piggy bank, every
time I achieve this or that goal – three. At the end of the month go
out and buy yourself the most impractical things you were craving but
denying yourself with this money.
8. Do not wait for some big moment or big day to start exercising.
There are spaces in your daily schedule when you procrastinate – fill
them with activities. For example, instead of sitting on the couch,
saying “It does not matter, I am going to the gym the next day”, get
off and do a series of push ups, or skip with the skipping rope (buy
it for one dollar in one dollar store), walk down the stairs at work
or around the block at your lunch break. This way, you are exercising,
fighting boredom, and do not have to sweat in the gym for hours
afterwards. This random 7-10 minutes activities will roll at the end
of the day into a full gym session!
9. Use “I will show them all” technique (sparingly). Think about the
mean people who teased you, the girl who refused to go out with you, a
sneering sales person in the clothes shop, imagine them all, and “show
them” – run fast, kick high, and end being and feeling gorgeous!

Michael asks…

How can I stay motivated?

I’ve always had a problem with staying motivated. I’ll begin enthralled and end too bored to bother.

I’ve run websites that were just beginning to garner some level of e-fame and I gave up. Got bored.

Gotten half way through books, got bored, quit.

Worked out for a while, didn’t see as many results as desired and (can you believe it?) I decided to quit.

How can I keep motivated?

Ramesh Klinkert answers:

I think I can help you with this. First thing about motivation is what you like and what you dislike. If you dislike something it will be VERY difficult to try to do it. For example for a book, read the first 50 pages or until you get the general mist of the plot and then decide if you want to keep it or not. Another thing you can try is doing something with a friend. Maybe join a book club. There are other ways of getting motivated. For example, I never liked writing or doing homework. To get motivated I used cool pencils and pens. Because I wanted to use the pencil or pen i kept doing my homework. If you get bored with things try to change them up. Now working out is very hard. It requires a lot of motivation. It also requires a lot of goals. I would set goals. Maybe run a mile and get a snack. Do something like that. Another helpful thing with working out is music. Also some people are uncomfortable with gyms because they do not like to be watched….try working out at home. On the other hand some people like to be motivated so they join a class. Hope this helped.

Motivation to go back to the gym?

Hey guys im am 19 Female UK

I joined the gym in October

Then didn’t go back from about 15th decemeber till now hehe. I want to go back tomorrow but i feel too nervous to go back or maybe im making excuses , and tips for motivation to get up early and go back tomorrow , thanks in advance :)

Ramesh Klinkert answers:

Listen to music that gets you in the zone when you’re there/about to go. My advice is: don’t think, do. Meaning, don’t say “maybe I should go to the gym today…” Right when you think the word gym, get up, go eat a small meal if you haven’t already, and go straight to the gym. Don’t give any thought to whether or not you should go, and avoid thinking about what you’ll do there, until you get there. If you think about it, it’s kinda like standing on the edge of the 50 foot high dive: all you’ll do is build up a ton of fear and end up climbing down. But if you run off without looking down, you’ll be just fine, and you’ll have jumped.

Lizzie asks…

I hate the area I live in. peopel are very nasty and rude .

I sleep a lot because I’m depressed….I dont even like to look in the mirror anymore…
my mom makes me feel like crap every single day. adn my neighbors are enemies

Ramesh Klinkert answers:

Sometimes yahoo answers sections are really dumb. Most of the asnwers are the stupid people you complain about … Like the other answerer.

You need to get a job , get a girlfrined , and move out.

Forget that stupid girl she used you and get over it. Shes gonna play games to keep you waiting for her probably.

Fuck that.
Where is she now when you need her?

You stopped the gym why? No money and you don;t feel comfortable working out at home around your mom…who probably states at your body and makes you feel auward.
She sounds like a sweet old lady but treats you badly because you not the way she wanted you to turn out and is trying deperatly to remold you…despite you being an adult. Shes a bad mom and does not know how to bring you up only knock you down. Some mothers use a hammer to hit thier childs heads with.

Research energy vampires.

You cannot hide anymore and need to face the music. …

Or in the middle of the night apply for jobs. Or go to a library .. Walk if you have to.

Fsell your stuff when you mom is not around…SAY NO. Say no to your mom. Shes selfish.

Leave your area….its not good for you and its killing you inside. Leave you mom in her mess. Shes digging her self a hole and opening cans of worms by the sound of it and you are stuck always involved and never abel to live you own life you deserve to live.
Let go of the girl ! I read your older post…let her go!!!!!

I have to lose weight and ultimately change how I handle my health…help plz?

Hi, so today on Christmas we’re taking pictures as I’m looking at these pictures, I see that I have completely let myself go. I have alway been a nice size gal but this is the first time I’ve ever weighed 200+ (at 5’3″) lbs and I’m usually between a size 16-18. I’ve always taken pride in my shape but now that my shape is round its not ok…I don’t want to be a size 2 or anything but just a toned body that can fit into a bathing suit would be nice. So, what I am asking for is help. I work full-time in the mall with no microwave or refrigerator (and I eat a lot of mall food as a result). I love junk food and I have a limited endurance for working out. So if anyone has any advice for my eating habits or work outs when I can’t make it to the gym that would be great. And also, my confidence is shot so any books or blogs that can help me stay motivated and not depresses would be great. Thanks

Ramesh Klinkert answers:

Hello emotional, boredom and convenience eater!

When you get bored, try doing something else like Sudoku, writing in a journal, reading, or Origami. Any hobby will do, just distract yourself from that mindless munching that helped pass the time, that got you into this mess.

When you’re upset, go ahead and snack if it makes you feel better. Just make sure you snack on something healthy like apple slices or baby carrots. Convenient, healthy, and yummy! … Or if you can stomach the thought, clean something. When I get super angry, I’ll start cleaning something all frenzy-like. The benefit is extra energy exerted, you feel like you’re doing something, and you end up with a cleaner home as a result! Also, try to get away or resolve what makes you so upset if you can.

As far as eating in the mall, think of all the money you’d save if you bought your own fresh foods after payday, and made your own lunches the night before you went to work! Also, don’t bring cash or debit cards with you to work. No money = no bought lunch!

Now if you like convenience food, go buy canned soups. There are some healthy ones on the shelf you can pick up. Also, make your lunches, breakfasts and dinners a few days early, like 1 or 2 days before, and enjoy the convenience of home-made food made by your own two hands.

Crock pots are also very convenient to cook dinners. There’s a low setting that’ll cook your food over 8 or more hours while you do other things. There’s a high setting that will cook things over the course of 4 hours. Throw the healthy ingredients into the pot (chicken and vegetable stew is one of my favorites to cook), go to work, and your food is done by the time you’re home! Now THAT is convenience!

Also, if you can’t go to the gym, put in your headphones and go for a walk! Faster music will make you want to walk faster, and before you know it you’re speed walking! If it’s raining or snowing, head to the mall early and walk around the mall.

And here’s some advice about motivation. WHAT ALTERNATIVE DO YOU HAVE?
So when you feel overwhelmed by your goal, or unhappy about slow progress, because you WILL feel that way, Think These Words:

“What am I gonna do, quit and gain it all back? How logical is that? How am I gonna feel when I’m back at 200+? Will I be wishing when I’m back there that I should have just Stuck With It?”

William asks…

Help with motivation at the gym?

When I visit the gym I have no problem with doing my weight sets but when it comes to cardio I find it really hard to get motivated and usually only spend about ten minutes before I give up.

Can anyone give some advice on how to get motivated for the cardio work?

Thanks in advance.

Ramesh Klinkert answers:

1) Music. Get yourself a MP3 player, IPod, or something. Even a radio tuner with headphones. Make a playlist of your 10 favorite songs that make you want to move/dance/party. Exercise to these songs. Before you know it, time will have flown by, you’ve run a couple miles and biked a couple miles, etc, and you got to listen to your favorite tunes while it happend.
2) Enlist a buddy. When I needed to lose weight for my wedding, my best friend would come over every day, get my butt up out of bed, and make me go jogging with her, and then go swim. A lot! Not to mention the tae bo we did before even starting the jog! Lost 15lbs in 30 days, doing that 3 days a week, no changes to my diet.

Good luck!
