Your Questions About Gym Motivation
Helen asks…
Is going to the gym worth the money and time? How long does it take to start loosing wieght in doing so?
I mean i’m a slim guy, but I want to have an athlestically and muscular tonned body. My fitness instructer said to cut back on junk food and increase the amount of protien. Any other advice that has worked for you? I have been going to the gym 3 times a week (recommeneded), for the like past two months.
Ramesh Klinkert answers:
No its not.. Just sit on ur couch and order dominos… Then you will see the weight slide right off you…
Are you kidding me… Of course its worth it… Dont you want to be healthy dont you want to look good?
Of course it takes time.. Everything takes time.. Rome wasnt built in a day…you need to find motivation within yourself and then hit that gym… Make sure you have a good diet, you do at least 30 min of cardio/daily and make sure you have a good workout routine…. Ull be fine!!
Betty asks…
Is motivation for working out an attainable thing or is it that some are just born w/sufficient motivation?
How does one attain motivation if it is attainable? I could use some advice for motivation to help many other areas in my life as well.
Ramesh Klinkert answers:
The motivation comes from where you feel the least pain. If you associate pain with going to the gym you will not get there. If you associate a good time with going their such as looking at women in tights then you will go there.
If you want to keep a goal post your goal where everyone can see it. Tell everyone you know what your goal is so it is hard to go back on it. Your goal must be reasonable. If you are 5 foot tall you will not play in the NBA.
John asks…
How do you get motivation to go back to the gym?
I have no problem working out alot, sometimes twice a day or more at the gym when I’m in the habit or the routine. But, whenever I get injured or hurt or something else keeps me away from a week or more, I find it hard to go back the first few times.
What do you do to get you going after a rut?
Ramesh Klinkert answers:
Look at pictures on the internet of really healthy and fit people. Or taking naked pictures of yourself…seriously! It helps.
Ruth asks…
How can I keep up my motivation?
I’ve been dieting and exercising for the past few months, and have lost 25lbs so far. I work with a personal trainer and a nutritionist, so I’m a guru on the answers of HOW to do diet and exercise. However, with a full time job and a very busy life, I sometimes find myself just completely demotivated to get myself to the gym every day or to spend the time portioning out my meals. How can I keep myself completely 100% focussed/motivated?
Ramesh Klinkert answers:
Remind yourself of the benefits you gain by losing weight and being fit…remind yourself that you’ve worked hard for months and don’t want to throw all that hard work away…make your exercise part of your daily regime, it’s non-negotiable (a MUST do thing).
It’s easy to get bored or frustrated, especially if we’ve got a long way to go to reach our goal…but it’s worth it! Think of it too as a lifestyle change, not a diet. This is how you will need to live to maintain your weightloss once you hit your goal…make it a lifestyle change you can accept and live with so you don’t start putting the pounds back on when you get off your ‘diet’.
Good luck!
David asks…
What is more convenient a home gym, or a membership?
Im currently working out at my school for free, but pretty soon ill be graduating. And im debating wether to get a membership or buy a home gym, someone is selling me a bench press and a power rack, including weights, and 5 diffrent bars, (olympic, curl etc etc) all for $350.
Ramesh Klinkert answers:
Home gym is more convenient but psychologically is usually going to make you go less. Because your home is usually your relaxing place where you chill and take it easy. Your not usually in the mood to work out and often times if you force yourself there is so many distractions that will cut it short on top of the fact you usually won’t go hard. Or you may try and split your workout and do it half and half but never complete the second half. The membership gives you first of all being in a location with no other distractions like food, sleep and relaxation and you go prepared and ready to work out or at least with it in mind. There are other people around you to keep the motivation up and to use as mental motivation to continue and reference for how long your resting. In order to go to the gym your already up and active, and this is all coming from personally doing this I have a home gym and it just is not as effective as a membership.
Sharon asks…
How old do I have to be to join a class at a gym?
Iam 14.. 15 in november.
At my local lesuire centre they have tons of classes, like pilates, yoga, spinning, I would really like to join one to get fit but my parents are laughing at me saying i am too young which makes me feel frustrated.
Yes, I know i could excercise at home but it isn’t the same motivation as meeting people in a class.
Ramesh Klinkert answers:
Just contact the gym and ask them! You may have to get your parent’s permission, but you have nothing to lose by asking.
