Your Questions About Fitness Woman Image

and healthy
Ramesh Klinkert answers:
Distance running – just look how thin most marathoners’ thighs are. Sprinters get bulky thighs, but you won’t bulk up if you run at a slower pace for longer disances
Marathoners:

Now compare that to sprinters:

So don’t listen to anyone who tries to tell you that running bulks you up – that’s only if you do short sprints at a fast pace

Dove advertising campaign – can you call chubby/overweight women “normal”??
Before you hordes of insecure, gullable women start whining more predictable trite, please let it be known that:
I do not like anorexic women. I find size 0 even MORE disgusting than obese girls.
I am aware that men are just as fat as women these days, but this is a question concerning women asked by a guy who looks after himself in terms of what he eat and how much exercise he does.
The Dove adverts. These are so called “normal” women:

http://www.smh.com.au/ffximage/2005/10/02/dove_wideweb__430x327.jpg
Do they mean “normal” in the meaning that “most” women have rather chubby/portly bodies these days?
Because my idea of “normal” would be a size 6-10 (depending on the physical size of your hips and your height), with a toned, low body fat %. Think more:
http://wallpapers.diq.ru/ru/54__Tina_Rigdon,_Female_Fitness_Model.html
Bit of a poor example, but the above image does not show a woman who is:
Anorexic
Size 0
In my opinion, and in light of modern understanding/education when it comes to what we should eat/how often to exercise, surely the above image – ro thereabouts (think of the women used in those Gilette Venus adverts) should be considered “normal”?
Surely all the Dove adverts do is glamourise poor diet and sedentry lifestyles – if the models they used in their advertising ate healthy, balanced foods and did regular exercise (nothing extreme – just “normal” eating and exercising), it would be impossible for them to look “chubby” like they do.
Do I have a point?
Ramesh Klinkert answers:
As a male i can see your point however the dove campaign is an awareness campaign for women to love themselves….. As you and i both know women come in all shapes and sizes…. Each is unique and that is what the dove campaign is all about………………….
Lisa asks…
So what is the TRUE reason women(and men) hate models and big breasts?
These seem to be the hot button issues for people when it comes to woman‘s bodies and self image. People throw out that all models are anorexic or on coke, and that women with large busts(especially if they’re thin) can only be that way because of implants.
I don’t understand it at all anymore. I used to be jealous and catty when I was a teenager, but I grew out of it and, after becoming a mom, I started working on my health and fitness and feel like I have never looked better! But the only real reason I was mean and hateful was because I was jealous, and most people claim that they are not jealous and that these people are just worthless trash so they hate them.
Why hate someone because of their career? And why does being a model and/or large busted make someone stupid, according to so many?
Ramesh Klinkert answers:
I agree with you about jealousy or envy. I think it’s the case for most people even though they don’t admit it.
I can also see how some people can think that modelling is not a “real” job. All those people would be out of a job if society suddenly decided to have different ideals about looks. Furthermore, many of us don’t even look at them. Their faces and bodies simply flash by on the TV or we see them without actually seeing them when turning the page in a magazine and they still make a lot of money. It’s a strange phenomenon that I can understand if people see as a none-job.
(Even worse are people who are famous for being famous in my opinion.)
It’s not a valid reason to call models stupid or anything like that but I can in a way understand how some people see it as not being a job. They don’t know the backside of it either. Modelling is often hard work, long hours and enormous pressure on the person to look right.
In the end people hate other people for the most stupid reasons. If it wasn’t models then it would be some other group of people instead.

perfect body imagine??/?
why do so many people go crazy trying to get the perfect body image? ( i am one of those ppl). why cant we all just accept the way we look?? what is causing this in our society? i am a 19 year old female thats 5 feet 1 3/4 inches and i weight 105 and i am never happy with my body image…i want it to stop! plz help!
Ramesh Klinkert answers:
I’m the same way – but I think there is an upside to every obsession – don’t give up hope! You can have the body you want, and you can be sane as well. I’m very much a perfectionist when it comes to my own body. It took hard work and discipline, but I am now where I want to be, and I’m having a lot of fun. One thing that may be holding you back is your friends – at your age I had a lot of friends who drank and partied a lot, and loved to indulge in good fatty foods. The only way I could spend time with my friends, was if I were to do those things with them. Eating and drinking a lot will just set you back fitness wise, so I basically had to make a lot of new friends. Now I have friends who are into fitness, like to go to the gym, cook healthy meals at home, play ultimate frisbee do triathlons, etc.
Anyway, details – you need to read up on eating healthy – I suggest “Eating Clean” by Tosca Reno, and Oxygen magazine. If you are only 105 pounds and you are unhappy with your body, I’m going to guess that you just need to reshape a little, NOT lose weight, and weight training will help you do this. It takes A LOT of discipline to cut bad foods out of your diet and eat around 1500 – 1800 calories per day (with one cheat meal per week of course). However, if you are really motivated, you can do it, and you can have fun while doing it.
Being this conscious of your body may mean that you can’t just go out and enjoy pizza and beer every week night – some people may think you aren’t fun because of it. On the other hand, it means you will take care of yourself, FOR YOURSELF, forever – this means that a lot of men (and women) will respect you and like you more because they know you are not the type to “let yourself go” as soon as you get a ring on that finger. Good luck!
Ken asks…
Isn’t body image really twisted in today’s society?
Isn’t it twisted the body image of women today?
I asked a question on the physical attractiveness of my face in 6 differently angled photos. Almost 90% of my answers mention my weight….is that what I asked? Many marked me down at least 4 points on a scale of 1 to 10 just looking like I have “chubby” body…which was cropped out of the photos.
I also answered 10 questions today reguarding an ideal weight in the BEAUTY category. Not health & fitness! must you be stick thin to be beautiful?
One girl asked, “Is 90 lbs an ideal weight for a women who is 5’8″?”
I was astounded just how skewed her self body image was!
According to bmi calculations the normal healthy weight a female with the height of 5’8″ is 115 – 145 lbs. And she thought 105 was FAT!
I am absolutely dumbfounded…. Anyone else like to share?
Ramesh Klinkert answers:
It is very twisted today. But dont worry about what everyone else thinks. You should be healthy, and happy. Life is tooooo short to let people that dont really care about you make rude comments and you let that get you down. Everyone is beautiful in their own way.
