Your Questions About Fitness Quotes

Mary asks…

How to become a model?

I live in a small town near la. I don’t really have money to get an agent. What are some websites that post auditions for models? Any tips on being a model or how to get myself out there?

Ramesh Klinkert answers:

Under 18s need written parental permission to model & adult chaperones to all photoshoots, agency interviews & casting calls. Parents must ensure work is within government guidelines with regard to hours, pay etc. If applicable a youth work permit will be needed. The law states that only parents can make model agency applications on behalf of anyone under the age of 18.

The only measurement criteria in modelling are for Runway Modelling – adult females 34″-24″-34″ & 5’8-5’11″ and Plus Size Modelling – females 5’8-5’11″, size 10-18 UK. Adult males 5’11-6’2 waist 30″–35″ chest 36″–40″). Weight is not important but models must be toned with a healthy BMI.

Other modelling genres do not have measurement criteria. Modelling genres are :

(All ages) Fitness, Runway, Catalogue, Fashion, Print, Magazine, Advertising, Promotional, Plus Size, Character, Commercial, Editorial, Parts Modelling, Hair, Photographic.

(All ages but under 18s – catalogue style only. Over 18s only for provocative images) Swimwear, Lingerie, Underwear.

(Over 18s only) Alternative, Gothic, Topless, Nude: Glamour nude, Playboy Nude, Concealed Nude, Implied Nude, Art Nude, UK Magazine, US magazine, Continental, Hardcore, Fetish

Portfolios should include images in the model`s chosen genres. Both professional un-edited & clear amateur shots are acceptable. Use images from several photographers. You will need permission from the photographer to include his/her images in your portfolio as they own the copyright. Some photographers work TFP/TFCD i.e neither model & photographer are paid but both get to use the images in their portfolios. Some photographers charge for their work-ensure that the price they quote is all inclusive. Be wary of portfolio studios as often the price does not include the images, only the studio time & the photographer. Some portfolio studios will give the hard sell to entice their customers to pay extortionate prices for poor quality images. Beware, 3 out of 4 agencies are scams. The quickest, but not exclusive, check is to google the name of the agency followed by the word ‘scam’ or ‘review’ & to read the results. Be aware that where there are negative reviews scam agencies often write bogus positive reviews. The link here will take you to further information on how to avoid the scams : http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/ind…

Genuine agencies receive 1000s of applications direct to their offices & have no need to scout or advertise anywhere on the internet INCLUDING Facebook, FaceParty, Gumtree, Google Ads, YahooAds. To make this clear, when making an internet search relating to modelling ALL the modelling adverts on the right of the screen & in the pink or blue boxes at the top of the results list are ALL scams.

Avoid modelling schools, their remit is to make themselves money not to make models. They accept anybody willing to pay their high fees but give no guarantee of your being accepted by an agency. You are making them money – they won`t pass you on to make money for someone else. You are better off applying to the agencies & if you are accepted they will give you training for free & you know you are not wasting your time or money.

You can also freelance for paid work. Use model networking sites such as Model Mayhem / Purestorm / OneModelPlace to locate photographers in your area that will pay you to model for them. Modelling is paid pro rata. Hourly rates can be high compared with many other jobs, but there is no guarantee of ongoing work. You`ll need to keep up with your messages, be professional, & keep your own paperwork in order for tax purposes. Photographers have contact details in their own websites that they link to their network site profiles.

Some agencies cover all types of modelling, some a select few & some are exclusive to one style. But what each one will be looking for is
a) the model`s ability to make him or herself and the product they are advertising (whether it be a physical item or an idea) saleable either via the camera or the catwalk.
B) models they can market to their clients. Each agency has it`s own client base , which may be looking for different types of models to the clients of another agency.

I know its alot of change but i know it will be worth it.
what are some good sports and exercises, plus some healthy food and recipes.

Ramesh Klinkert answers:

1. Just say no to fruit juice. Juice is fruit with the fiber removed. Not to mention, most of them are packed with sugar. Opt for the real thing instead.

2. Stick to water. All of those sugary soft drinks are simply adding excess calories to your diet and to your waistline. Start drinking only water and a bit of tea and you could start seeing changes in your body very quickly. This is especially true if your a soft drink junkie.
3. Create a new good habit each day. Eating often becomes a habit rather than a way to nourish ourselves. To get out of bad eating habits, it’s easier to change one habit per day. I have recently started doing this and have found it to be extremely effective.
On the first day I gave up honey on my oatmeal and on the second day I converted all of my snacks to fruits and vegetables.

4. Change your lifestyle. A diet is simply a way of eating. It’s a long-term commitment not a one-time event. Create permanent lifestyle changes. Good habits are the key to success when it comes to maintaining a healthy weight.

5. Get plenty of sleep. Your sleep time is an essential component to losing weight. Researchers have found evidence to show that better sleep habits are instrumental to the success of any weight loss plan.

6. Eat 5-6 small meals per day instead of 3 big meals. Keith Klein, World-renowned nutritionist and author of “Get Lean” is quoted as saying,

“If you haven’t figured it out yet, let me spell it out for
you: depending on your goal, it is either five or six meals
a day or forget about reaching your potential!”

Yes, it may seem strange to eat 5-6 meals a day when you’re trying to lose weight, but this is the secret to getting to the next level in your fitness goals.

Eating 5-6 small meals per day is the key to a fast metabolism. Every time you eat a meal, your body’s metabolism starts up a new spin cycle caused by the thermic effect of food.

In fact, a portion of the calories you consume are burned through the simple act of digestion. This thermic effect can range from 3% to 30%. Lean protein causes a thermic effect of up to 30%. This means you burn 30% of the calories you eat from chicken breast, fish, and egg whites. Vegetables have a thermic effect of around 20%. However, fats and refined carbohydrates have a very low thermic effect of only 3%. This is one of the reasons it’s so easy to gain weight when you are eating lots of carbohydrates and sugars.

When you’re eating 5-6 smaller meals that are centered around high protein, fibrous vegetables, your body will burn through the calories.

A higher metabolism creates a fat-burning machine. The longer you practice this meal plan, the more muscle you’ll develop. The more muscle you develop, the faster your metabolism will become. It’s a win-win situation.

Unfortunately, it’s something that way too few people are taking advantage of. Most people try to starve themselves and in the process they kill their metabolism. In doing that, they also kill their fat-burning potential.

Five or six small meals a day accelerates your body’s natural rate of calorie burning.

Best of all, frequent meals also prevents binges and controls cravings. When you’re eating every three hours, your body stays satisfied and your energy levels stay high.

7. Don’t avoid all fat. Yes, I know it might sound like a strange suggestion when trying to lose weight, but it’s true. Our bodies need certain types of fats just to survive.

They’re called essential fatty acids. You may have heard of them. They go by the name of Omegas 3, 6, and 9 and they are essential to a healthy diet.

8. Add some variety to your meals. The key to success is having options. Keep your mouth happy with a variety of different meal choices.

9. Get your Fiber. The inclusion of fiber into a well-balanced meal slows the digestion of the carbohydrates. This results in long-lasting energy instead of the short bursts
of energy offered by simple carbohydrates.

10. Slow Down… If you are looking to lose a few pounds, then simply slow down. There are so many Americans who rush through their meals. When you rush through your meal, your body doesn’t have time to send your brain the signal that you’re full, which results in overeating. Take time to enjoy your food.

Should I get a phone or a bike ?

To be more specific should I get a Cannondale Trail SL2 2013 or the new iPhone 5? They both quite cost a lot of money even though the bike cost a much more.

I love fitness, exercising, being active, surfing the web and also socializing, texting etc.

When I get straight A’s in school report my dad let me buy these products but since they cost so much I only get to pick 1.

Please decide which is best for me. How would a high school teenager like me make a choice? And thanks for reading!

Ramesh Klinkert answers:

Quote, “How would a high school teenager like me make a choice?”

By using your BRAINS & deciding which one will bring you the most enjoyment & use. If that doesn’t work – flip a coin in the air. Heads – the Cannondale. Tails – the iPhone 5. Or should that be the other way around? Heads – the phone. Tails – the bike. Get the idea???!!!
